For residential concrete patios in Houston, we typically pour at 4 inches thick. If you plan to park vehicles or place heavy outdoor structures on the patio, we recommend 5–6 inches with rebar reinforcement. Houston's expansive clay soil makes proper base preparation and thickness critical for long-term durability.
In some cases yes, but it depends on the condition of the existing slab. If the old concrete is structurally sound with no major cracks or shifting, we can pour on top. However, if there is significant damage, heaving, or drainage issues, we recommend full removal and replacement to avoid compounding the problem.
Most concrete patio installations in Houston take 1–2 days. Day one covers site prep, forming, and rebar installation. Day two is the pour and finishing. After pouring, the patio needs 24–48 hours before foot traffic and a full 7 days before placing heavy furniture or structures on it.
Standard concrete is finished with a broom or smooth texture — clean, durable, and budget-friendly. Stamped concrete uses patterned molds pressed into the wet concrete to replicate the look of stone, brick, slate, or wood. Stamped costs more but adds decorative value and curb appeal. Both are long-lasting when properly installed.
